What Does It Mean to Walk by Faith?

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
But what does it mean to walk by faith? Walking by faith means trusting God and following His Word even when we cannot see what lies ahead. It means believing that God knows what is best, even when we don’t understand His plan.
Trust God Even When You Don’t Understand
Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
We don’t always have to understand what God is doing before we trust Him.
God sees what we cannot see. He knows what we do not know. Faith says, “I may not understand this, but I know God is faithful.”
Follow God One Step at a Time
Sometimes we want God to show us the entire plan before we take the first step.
But God often gives us enough direction for the next step.
Hebrews 11:8 says of Abraham, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out… obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”
Abraham didn’t know everything that was ahead, but he knew God, and that was enough.
Faith Changes How We Face Life
Walking by faith doesn’t mean we will never have questions, worries, or difficult circumstances. It means those things don’t have to control us. When we walk by sight, we can become discouraged by what is happening around us. When we walk by faith, we remember that God is still in control. Maybe you don’t know what tomorrow holds. Maybe you’re facing a decision, a difficult season, or something you simply cannot understand.
You don’t have to see the whole path. Trust God. Follow His Word. Take the next step.
Because walking by faith means trusting the One who can see what you cannot.
