What’s the Gospel? (And How to Share It)

The Greatest Need We All Have
Before we talk about changing the world, we must start with a hard truth: our greatest problem isn’t around us—it’s within us. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 (KJV), “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” That’s not just a statement about “bad people”—it’s about all people. Sin is not just what we do; it’s who we are by nature. We’ve all lied, had wrong thoughts, acted selfishly, and chosen our own way over God’s. And because God is holy and just, sin brings a real consequence. Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death…” That means separation from God—both now and eternally. That’s why the Gospel is not just helpful—it is absolutely necessary.
The Good News: What God Has Done
The word “Gospel” literally means good news—and it is the greatest news ever given. Even though we are sinners, God did not leave us without hope. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to this earth, lived a perfect sinless life, and went to the cross—not for His sin, but for ours. He took the punishment we deserved. He died, was buried, and rose again the third day—proving that sin and death were defeated. Salvation is not something we earn. It’s not by good works, church attendance, or trying harder. Ephesians 2:8–9 makes it clear: “For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works…”
The Gospel is simple:
We are sinners.
Jesus died for our sins.
He rose again.
And anyone who repents and puts their faith in Him can be saved.
Why This Message Still Matters
In a world full of noise, opinions, and temporary fixes, the Gospel remains the only message that truly changes lives.
It doesn’t just improve behavior—it transforms the heart.
It gives:
Forgiveness for the past
Purpose for the present
Hope for the future
No amount of success, money, or self-improvement can fix the problem of sin. Only Jesus can.
Our Responsibility: Sharing the Gospel
The Gospel was never meant to stop with us. Jesus commanded His followers in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
If we truly believe what Jesus has done, we cannot keep it to ourselves. We must simply tell others what Jesus has done for us. Someone said, “Evangelism is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread”
1. Live It Daily
Your life should reflect the change Christ has made in you. A consistent, godly life gives credibility to your message.
2. Pray for Opportunities
Ask God to open doors to speak to others. Opportunities often come in ordinary conversations.
3. Keep It Simple
You don’t need to be a theologian. Share:
Your testimony (what Christ has done for you)
The basic truth of the Gospel
4. Speak with Compassion
People aren’t projects—they’re souls. Speak with love, not pride.
5. Trust God with the Results
It’s not your job to save anyone—that’s God’s work. Your job is to be faithful in sharing.
Someone in your life right now needs the Gospel.
A friend. A coworker. A family member.
You may be the only person who will tell them.
Don’t wait for the “perfect moment.” Don’t let fear silence you.
The Gospel changed your life—it can change theirs too.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth…”(Romans 1:16)
