Praying Together as a Family

In a fast-paced world full of distractions, one of the greatest things a family can do is gather in prayer. It doesn’t require perfect words or long periods of time—just a heart that desires God. Throughout Scripture, we see the importance of a family altar, a set time and place where God is honored. Men like Abraham built altars wherever they went, making it known that their homes belonged to the Lord. In the same way, a family altar today is simply a daily commitment to stop, gather, and seek God together.

Family prayer builds unity. It teaches children that God is real, personal, and worthy of our time. It creates a spiritual foundation that will guide them long after they leave the home. Start simple. Be consistent. Whether it’s a few moments in the morning or before bed, those times become sacred.

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” — Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (KJV)

A strong home is built at the altar.
